Critter Sketch Challenge #67

Above is the sketch for you to use this week at Critter Sketch Challenge blog. There is a chance to use lots of "bling" as you can see by the picture above!
I did two different cards with the same central image. My first card I did using that pale yellow card stock and once I photographed it , I wasn't sure if it was what I wanted...so I did it again using different colors! I think they both have good qualities along with bad ones...I will let you be the judge...! Let me know what you think!
My center piece that the image is on is kraft paper. I used a lot of glitter pens to put some "bling" on the butterfly. I used a tiny stamp of a butterfly to place the spots around the central circle. In my green card; I used little clear dots that I placed glitter glue under around the center image. I also added some blue card stock around the middle layer and then used the same for my stamped sentiment.
So...two cards...each a little different from the other... What are you gonna do? Join in the fun and check out what the other DT have done this challenge here.

I am also entering the following challenges:
Dream Valley Challenges -Stamp something (both my main image and sentiment...smaller butterflies on the yellow card too!)
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - Bugs or Boys (bugs here!)
Allsorts - Things with Wings

Happi Days Are Here!

If it's Monday then it's time for another challenge from Happileigh Scrappin'! This week we want to see your embellishments! The more the merrier! Ribbon, lace, bows, brads, buttons...etc.! Pile them on or use them sparingly but we need to see at least 3 different ones!

I have used...lace, ribbon, bow, buttons, die cut tulips (cut with my Cricut) and I even stitched around my image! I do like how this sweet image turned out, but then again; I used the pre-colored image from Leigh so it was pretty darn easy to do my card once I decided on the embellishments!
Check out all of my team mates creations at Happileigh Scrappin' and then try your hand at the challenge...good luck!
I am also entering this card into the following challenges:
One Stop Craft Challenge - Buttons & bows

I also used 3 different images from Faith for this card! My background is the 1st image. The Skater Boy is the 2nd image and the Flutterby Fairy is the 3rd image. (I only used the head of the fairy image to make my skater a girl!)

Skater Boy!

This week the progressive challenge at D2d we were given this cute skater boy to create with. I chose to do a card and added lots of little extras to the background for a scene.I masked the image and stamped a fence behind him and then used a scalloped circle to chalk a sky too. I added the sidewalk beneath his feet too! I can remember my youth and skateboarding! I was quite good at it too! Many a summer night was spent with friends skateboarding under a viaduct near our houses...Good memories!
Too bad we all have to grow up eventually...!
I used Copic markers to color and chalks for my sky. The sentiment is a stamp from SU. I added twine to the buttons which are from Michael's. I cut out the background cardstock using my Cricut. I printed the image twice and then cut out the skateboard and head to "pop up" with pop dots giving the card more depth. Thanks for looking and leave me some lovin' please...I love to read your comments!!

Hip To Be Square!

This week at Critter Sketch Challenge Blog, we are challenging you to use a square on your creation. Anywhere, any kind! It could be the shape of your card, or maybe added squares with embellishments. I decided to do a Diorama card after seeing several on line. Atutorial for one can be found here on Split Coast Stampers. My whole card is a square shape and then I went from there to finish it! I used a sweet image by our sponsor this month, Wags and Whiskers. On Friday, May 20th, Wags 'n Whiskers will be having a blog hop and digital stamp release. The sneak peeks will begin on the Wags & Whiskers blog on Wednesday and Thursday with the blog hop starting at 12:01amEST Friday May 20th.It should be a lot of fun so check it out if you are "surfing" that day!
Back to the particulars on my card:
I used a rolling wheel stamp from Stampin' Up to do the grass and tiny flowers along the bottom of the card. I cut out some grass using a MS punch to add depth to the front of the card. I used 2 different punches from SU for the sentiment (which is also from SU). Image was colored with my Copics. I used my Cricut to cut out the shapes in the middle of the card to make the window. Then once again used the same shape for my image. My sentiment on the top of the card is from Michael's $1 spot. My papers are all scraps. (I love when that works out!) Phew...! I think that's it...lol!
I am also entering this into the following:
Baby Buds - Punches and Dies (I used a Nestibility die to do my punched out window)

It's "Sew Nice" Today!

This week at Happileigh Scrappin' our challenge was created by Starla. She wants to see sewing on your creation...real or "faux" but it must have stitches on it!
I sewed a background using 6 pieces of 1/2" paper to make a backdrop for my images. I also sewed around the border of the card. I think I might actually be getting better at this sewing on paper...lol! (If I'm not getting better at least I getting more comfortable at it!) I used two different images by Leigh for my card.I used a freebie that you can find in Leigh's shop called "Heart and Flowers" and I used another image that you may purchase called "You Bug Me". This image comes with a sentiment also but I chose to use a different one of my own. I popped the bug up on pop dots to give the card some depth. Leigh is having a Spring sale going on right now and for every 3 images you buy, you get another one free! Check it out!
So go on over to Happileigh Scrappin', check out all of the wonderful creations our DT have for you and then try your hand at sewing! I betcha it will keep you in stitches! Haha!

D2D Flowerpot

I did this card for the challenge at Designed 2 Delight which ended yesterday but wasn't able to post to here until now because of the problems to Blogger...I did get it up in 2 other groups that I am in so it did make the deadline for the D2D challenge thank goodness!
I really like the way this turned out and I tried a new background too! I took 1/2" strips of some of my leftover scraps that I have and then taped them down on a piece of white card stock. I then used my sewing machine and a zigzag stitch to tie them all together. I really like the look!
I colored with my Copics and then used my Nestibilities to frame the image. I also printed out the image twice and cut out a couple of the flowers and popped them up with pop dots to give it a more 3D look.
My sentiment is a $1 stamp from Michael's that I stamped on card stock and then used some of the Tim Holtz tape to finish off the edges.

This week the challenge at Happileigh Scrappin' is to honor the May birthdays and birthstone which is an emerald...hence the color is green is what we want to see on your creation! I made a screen door card using the image called,"Colleen Heart Dress". I thought she looked so cute looking out that screen door! I found the screen door at my local scrap booking store. They have a template to cut out the doors and then sell the screening with the template. 4 doors and screens for $5.00! So needless to say...you will see more of these screen doors on my blog! lol!
I cut out the middle of my card front to add the door and then stamped around the edges of the front. I added a few homemade flowers and a sentiment and all was finished!

Monochromatic Challenge

The challenge this week at I Did It Creations is "monochromatic". So let's see what you create! I did my card using a sweet image from Beary Dust entitled, "Precious". It can be found here. I colored the image using Photo Shop to give it the nice tone of bluish gray. Pretty cool technique! Papers are from my stash of pieces.(The stash is slowly dwindling down I think...!) The flowers are acrylic and I added gray brads to their centers. All in all; a pretty easy card but I do love the way it turned out!
Go on over to IDIC and check out all of the yummy creations our DT have done and then try your hand at the challenge! Remember that you may request any one of the images that are used here for the challenge. Just choose an image that the DT used and send your request to wpettifer@gmail.com

I'm a Critter Once Again!

Today's post marks the beginning of my second term on the design team at Critter Sketch Challenge Blog. I am so grateful that I was chosen once again to help represent this site! Thank you for your confidence in me! Make sure to check my sidebar for the names of my fellow DT and give them a visit too. I know they would appreciate it!
Now onto this week's challenge! We have a sketch for you today which was done by our very own Melanie.

Thank you Melanie, it is a great one! Our sponsor for this challenge is Wags and Whiskers. They have such darling images so make sure to check them out!
Here is what I did with the sketch:

I used a scrap of paper for the background which was placed on white card stock. I used my Cricut with the Cindy Loo (new to me!) cartridge to cut out the circular shape which I then embossed in my Cuttlebug and then chalked over the raised areas.
My ribbon is from Michael's. I colored the image with Copics and then cut out to place on my circle. The sentiment is part of another embossing folder. I just placed my paper piece over the words I wanted to use and then embossed. I was able to cut around it and then used the same chalk ink as my circle background to distress the word. I used pop dots to raise the circle, and a scrap of blue paper behind the sentiment. All done! I love how it turned out.
I am also entering this into the following challenges:
2Sisters - For Mom
Ellephantastic Challenge - Birthday Party
Etsy Inspired Challenge - Imagine Studio ( I think the embossing and distressing behind my image looks like some of the art at this site!)

Happi For Mom!

This week the challenge at Happileigh Scrappin' is to make a card/project for your mom in honor of Mother's Day this coming Sunday, May 8th. I have chosen to do a bookmark using Leigh's cute image, "April with Pot".
I colored with my Copic and Promarker markers and then cut it out. I used a piece of cardboard for my base which I covered with a scrap of yellow printed dp. I used a chalk pad to ink around the edges. I then used my Cuttlebug and white card stock and a birthday folder. This I ran through the Cuttlebug and then cut out the words that I thought were a perfect fit for Moms! These I then chalked the raised parts and edges. I then added them to my bookmark. A punch for the hole on top and some fibers and ribbons and I was done!

I lost my Mom several years ago so I made this for my daughter who loves to read as much as I do! She is a Mom too! She has given me two wonderful grandchildren whom I love to pieces!

Aren't they the cutest grandbabies ever?????!!!!

IDIC Weekly Challenge

This week at I Did It Creations it's all about your Moms! Our challenge is "Mother's Day" and we would love to see your creations in honor of your Mom!
We were given our choice of images from Robyn's Fetish to use this week and I decided to go with this sweet bird sitting on her nest. I figure it is symbolic of all moms everywhere...keeping the home front warm and cozy! Always protecting our young and doing everything for them! My Mom passed away several years ago so I made my card to give to my daughter who is now a mother of two. My; the years have just flown by...I remember when she was my "wee one". I guess that's what life is all about! But I digress... Onto my card...

I used "Birdie's Nest from her store which can be found here. I colored with my wonderful Copic and Promarker markers.
The sentiment is from TLC Creations. I used a pale yellow card stock for my card base and a scrap of blue striped designer paper over it. I used chalks to distress the edges. I used a Copic marker to color inside the sentiment. Thanks for looking and be sure to check out the challenge and all of the other wonderful creations by our DT at I Did It Creations. Just for playing you can request any image that you would like from the DT's creations. How's that for a win-win situation!
