I Did It Challenge # 23 !

The challenge this week over at I Did It Challenge blog is for creating a ATC...an Artist Trading Card for those who don't know the lingo! ATC are usually a universal size as they are like "calling cards" for artists. ( I guess I am finally an artist if I have my own ATC!) Anyway, here are the particulars: they are generally 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. This is the size of playing cards and other trading cards. Because they are the size of other standard trading cards, most will fit in trading card sleeves. ATCs should be as unique as the artists who create them, so enjoy the selection. Start a collection of atc's and try to get as many as you can!

Now on to my ATC: I used three different papers from Toucan Scraps
which can also be found at the I Did It Creations store. My 3D items were just randomly chosen by me from a horde of little "goodies" that I have collected over the years. I just wanted my love of travel to show here! As the kids say today..."that's how I roll" lol! Have a great Sunday and make sure that you go over to I Did It Challenge blog an check out the other DT's creations. Why not show us your ATC?

Pics to Share

I wanted to share some photos that I took in Pennsylvania which were shot Labor Day weekend. My sister, brother in law, husband and I went to visit the ruins of an old dam in Austin that broke in 1926. It was standing for not even a year before it broke! This dam was built for a textile company and many lives were taken and the mill washed away when the dam gave way.

When the dam gave way, the last section of it was actually pushed sideways. The first photo shows the results of that force of water from mother nature. I was able to get the reflection of a fly fisherman in the photo! Can you see him?
(P.S. If you click on each photo it will become bigger for viewing!)

This next photo is one of my sister standing in the middle section of the dam that gave away. The size of the dam really amazed me! When this dam was built, it was all done by hand. No modern machinery like we have now!

The next photo is the same section of dam just at a farther away angle.

When the dam gave way, the last section of it was actually pushed sideways!

I hope you enjoyed these photos. I certainly loved being there and taking them! Have a great Saturday everyone! I will be posting a new challenge tomorrow from I Did It Challenge blog, so be sure to come back and check it out!

Anything Goes at AiF!

This week our theme is Anything Goes and we were given really cute images that all had to do with a circus! I thought I would try to give my creation the feel of being "under the big top" hence the ribbon and bow. I thought it would give the feel of a tent! ( What do you think?...) My images are colored with Copic markers. My dp is from a stack of Designer papers I found at Big Lot's. My red paper is from my stash!
Feel free to meander over to AiFactory Challenge blog and check out what the other DT members have done. While you are there; why not enter in the fun?! Have a great Wednesday everyone!

D2D Pumpkin Fun!

This week Faith sent this cute image of a cat with a pumpkin. Here is what I did with it...

My dp is from the $1 spot at Target(last year!).My card stock is all from my scrap pile. I am really trying to whittle it down....I even spent time sorting my scraps into size piles! I have a lot of different sizes and a promise to self to try and use these scraps! If I don't use them by the new year I will donate them to an after school group where I work so the kids can use them!!! My sentiment is from an old SU stamp set called Boogley Eyes (I think that was the name of it...) Go on over and check out the challenge at D2D. There is another challenge at Double Delight this week to do cards for Operation Write Home that I want to enter also. The deadline for Halloween cards is past so I will need to make another card tomorrow for that one! Go and check out that one too! You will receive a snowman image just for entering and sending your entry into OWH to be mailed to our servicemen for their use!

A Doodle for you!

Here is a sweet image done by Laurie over at Doodle Pantry. Isn't it the sweetest? I needed to make a card for my sister and this one was perfect for the fall weather we are starting to receive! I think my sis will get a kick out of it as she now lives in sunny Florida and will probably remember those crisp fall mornings "up North"!
Have a great Tuesday everyone, and leave me some lovin'

I Did It Challenge..."Keep It Simple"

I have been super charged waiting to let you all know that I am now a DT for I Did It Creations Challenge Blog! Our first challenge (or should I say my first challenge) is sponsored by Trees Award Digital Images. We were able to go and pick out what digital image we wanted to use for the challenge! I chose this one with the "Congo line" entitled Party Animals! I loved working with this image! I used Quick Quotes DP for my background paper. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the blue card stock. The image is colored with Copic markers.I used some blue ink to distress around the edges of the image and then placed it on the pale yellow card stock. The sentiment is from the $1 spot at Michael's. A Christmas tree ornament hook is attached to the lower right side with a Prima flower.
After I did this card for the challenge, I added a few flowers to the blue background. I stamped a flower on a scrap of designer paper, cut it out and added a prima and brad to finish them off. Then added another xmas tree ornament clip to the left upper corner of the image.. So... see how you can always "take it up a notch" just by adding a few embellishments.

Why not go on over to the I Did It Creations Challenge Blog and check out the challenge? You can also choose one image as used by any of the DT as a freebie to use in the challenge! Just email jeanette_wtrs@yahoo.com and she will send it to you!You have the chance to win a free image and $5 gift certificate.
You can right click on the DT listed on the right under the I Did It logo to see what they have created for you. Have fun!

For The Boys AiF Challenge

Question: What is a pirate's favorite subject in school?

Answer: Aaarrr-t!

And art is what we want from you!
Here is our challenge:
The challenge this week at AiFactory is entitled: "For The Boys". Your challenge is to use an image to make a card for a boy or man. I have used this cute pirate image from AiFactory! I love this little pirate! Maybe I will see him on Halloween when he goes "trick or treating"! lol! I have colored him with Copic markers, and glitter pens. I then used one of my Nestibilities to cut out around him. To the edges of this, I highlighted with gold paint. I then used my Cricut and Paper Dolls cartridge to cut out a pirate ship. This along with the sentiment which is framed by black card stock was then adhered to the card front. I think it looks like a card any young boy would love to receive!
Why not go on over to AiFactoryand check out what all the other design team members have created for you and try your hand at the challenge?

Designed 2 Delight Challenge and more!

This week Faith from Designed 2 Delight sent us this sweet image of a bear. The challenge is to include sewing on your card from Double Delight and also to follow a sketch challenge from Sketches by Carly. Carly is a very talented young lady who has been doing sketches for a while now! Her sketch was a fun one! I am entering this into all 3 challenges this week. I have colored my image using Copic markers. My flower is hand made using ribbon from Michael's and a brad from my stash. The limited edition stamp is a retired one from SU as my sentiment also is.The heart stamp (over the sentiment) is from Michael's $1 bin. Papers from my stash and a Nestabilities die to cut out my image. I sewed around my image with my sewing machine and faux sewed around the bottom white layer! Have a great Thursday everyone!

Incy Wincy Autumn Challenge

A few of the designers from AiFactory were asked to make creations for the Incy Wincy Challenge Blog this week. The theme is "Autumn". You are to use autumn colors on your creation. This was an easy one for me as Autumn is my favorite season! The image is from AiFactory and she is entitled: Ella the Ballerina 2. You can find her here. Now for the details of my card... The image was colored with my Copic markers. The papers were mostly scraps from my "pile". I used a Martha Stewart punch for the detail under the ribbons. To the punched piece I sprayed Tattered Angels glimmer mist. The ribbon was added as was a cardboard embellishment to the lower right hand corner of the card. My card stock base was inked using Tim Holtz distress inks(Tea stain and pumpkin spice. All together one very "autumn" looking card! Don't you agree? Why don't you go over to Incy Wincy and add your creation to the challenge! Have a good Monday everyone and leave me some lovin'

Michelle Perkett..."Stitch it Up"!

The challenge this week at Michelle Perkett Studio is stitching...real or faux.I have used Mary Margaret's brother Thomas for this challenge. Thomas is new to Michelle's studio, and a wonderful addition! (I'm not quite clear where he has been before he joined his sister...maybe at a boarding school? LOL!). I have used my Copic and Prismacolor markers to color him. He is backed with blue paper from CK, followed by paper from a file folder that I cut down. The background paper is also from Creating Keepsakes.I have used a marking pen to "stitch" around the edges of the image.I have added three buttons that have embroidery floss, and a cute wooden star(that also has stitching around it) to finish off the card. That star is from a package of 8 that I picked up at Hobby Lobby last week for 20 cents! I love those kind of deals!

D2D Autumn Colors Challenge

This week we were given an Autumn wreath by Faith to use in our creation for the challenge at Designed 2 Delight. Over at Double Delight,(the sister challenge), our added challenge was to use Autumn colors. Reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and browns! Easy peasy with this great digital image! I decided to make a tag instead of a card for this one. I colored my image with Copic markers and used Tim Holtz distress ink to age it a little. I also used the distress ink on my background paper to make it more subtle. I added some dragon flies that I embossed with red glitter embossing powder, a few rhinestones and some different fibers to finish up the tag. I am not comfortable at doing distressed things but I think it turned out ok... What do you think? Leave me some lovin'

Back to School with AiF!

Well it's back to school for everyone this time of year! Over at AiFactory there is a challenge going on to do a card or other creation using the theme "Back to School". Under this theme you can pretty much take that any way you want! You may use primary colors, images or stamps using "school" things or by making something that you would use for school! I decided to make this handy little notebook which can be used for writing activities or homework assignments in it. It is the perfect size to fit into a backpack or a back pocket! The image I have used is from Designs by Mia, and can be found by clicking on her name. What creation do you have in mind? Why not go over to AiFactory and check out all the samples and join in? You have until September 15th. There is sure to be a great prize! Happy Wednesday everyone!

Weekend Vacation!

I will be gone all weekend as we are going to our 2nd home in Pennsylvania for the Labor Day weekend! This picture was taken in our backyard there; when a bear climbed onto the bird feeder to grab some goodies! I just hope that they are going on vacation this weekend too! lol! I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day!
This is a picture of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon which is near our home. Isn't it beautiful? I love the serenity and calmness I feel when I am there...

It is back to work for me on Tuesday. I enjoyed the summer off but I guess it will be good to get back to reality! My sign language has gotten rusty I am sure, so it will be good to "get back in the saddle again"!
