Sketch Wednesday at TDS

This week's challenge at The Digi Shack is a sketch challenge using the above sketch. I turned the sketch for my card. I used this beautiful horse image to create my card. I love this image... It makes me want to ride a horse on a beach in Hawaii! ( I probably never will, but this card makes me think I am there!) My designer paper is from Recollections. Solid card stock from Bazzil, and I water colored the blue background on water color paper. I added some interest to the blue background piece with a few SU stamps to try and mimac the DP.My image was cut out with Spellbinders deckle die. A few brads, a corner rounder, Copics to color, and an SU punch for the rest of my card. Let me know what you think, and hop on over to The Digi Shack and give the challenge a try! Happy Wednesday everyone!

Hang in There!

Well, I did another card "just cause I wanted to". I love creating without any constraints or time frames! I did this card using a cute Stupendous stamp, my Cuttlebug with polka dot embossing folder and a cardboard oval frame that I made for the template to go around my image. I also used; some lace doilies, Tim Holtz walnut inks, a paper bag(for cutting the tag), Basic Gray dp,a stamp from Michael's $1 spot, An SU stamp,my Copics, and some twine. Phew!Once you start creating I guess you just go on "auto-pilot and grab whatever you think "works"! I like how this turned out...how about you?

Fiesta Time!

Doesn't this cute little horse remind you of a Mexican Fiesta?! I got this digital image over a year ago (and 1 computer ago) so I really don't remember what "shop" it's from. If you can help me out with the info please leave a comment and let me know so I can give "props" where I should....(Rleen helped me out! It came from Paper Cupcakes and is entitled Painted Pony. Thanks Rleen!)
Anyway, on to my card... I used some cute Basic Grey paper from their Sugar Rush line for my background. The matching brad is also from Basic Grey. I used my Spellbinders for the purple frame around the image, pretty "ribbon" from the $1 spot at Big Lots and my Copics and Prisma Markers to color. I made this into a birthday card for my nephew whose birthday is this Saturday. So let me know what you think and be sure to leave me some lovin' !

Oh Happy Day !

This cute image is from Clearly Delightful...isn't she just precious? Laurie is so talented and her images amaze me! I received this image last month but have been so busy that today was the first chance I had to play with her.I love doing a card "just for the fun of it"...Under no time constraints...Just 'cause I feel like creating! This is one of those times! I even tried my hand at sewing on it! I took a "sick" day from work today for some Dr. tests but then had the rest of the day for myself. I LOVE mental health days! They rock! Have a good day everyone and leave me some lovin' !

Wednesday Challenge at The Digi Shack

Usually Wednesday is a watercolor challenge at The Digi Shack. But this week our challenge is to make a card in a shape you don't usually use. No 4" x 6" cards, or any other sized cards that you always find yourself using! I used the Spellbinders "Label Eight" to find my card size. I used the biggest die for my card size, then used 2 other smaller sizes in the same dies for the rest of the card. This image is called "Bunny with Flower". Isn't he so cute? So head on over to The Digi Shack, pick up an image (or two) and show us what you create! Have a super fun Wednesday everyone and be sure to leave me some lovin' !

Manic Monday Freebie!

Hop on over to The Digi Shack to get a cute image of a barrel! Then make a card or other creation using it and post it to your blog, or at The Digi Shack on SNR, and on PCP, Splitcoast Stampers, etc. Leave us a link so we can check it out!
I made this card by combining 4 different images from The Digi Shack. I used one monkey image on the front of my card here:

And then I used all three of the monkey images available at the shop along with the "freebie" barrel for the inside of my card here:

I colored it with my prisma markers and copics.I added some ribbon, some twine, a few buttons (from Walmart), colored card stock, and a piece of DP for the background (On front of card).

Isn't it so darn cute!? I think this card would be suitable for any age, boy or girl, man or woman...What do you think?

KAPOW !

Who doesn't love the movie Cars?! I have a little boy in my class who is turning 5 this week and he loves the movie...So...I thought I would whip him up a birthday card using my Cricut "Cars" Cartridge. Sounds easy peasy right? Wrong! It took me two hours of manual labor to make it look like this. I couldn't get my machine to cut my colored card stock, it kept on ripping it! So I finally used heavy white card stock and colored all the parts before putting them together! My background was done with water color paper and paint. I like how it turned out and I hope he loves it cause it was a labor of love for me! Leave me some lovin' !
I am entering this in the Cricutters Anonymous Challenge #29 which is to make a man themed card...

Going Green...The Digi Shack Way!

Today's Wednesday challenge at The Digi Shack is to go green! You are to make a card, scrapbook layout, or other creation with the main theme of "Green"! And how easy is that! Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone today! I did two cards using green as my main theme. The first one is the TDS image of the "singing shower guy". I used a green napkin to create the shower curtain! How fun is that! "Everything is green on St. Patrick's Day!" This image was a lot of fun to create with!
My next card used the "birthday cupcakes". I used Stickles on the frosting and some glossy finish on the cherries. Both images were colored with Copics.
So... if you want to try your hand at our challenge, head on over to The Digi Shack and give it a go. You just might end up going "green" yourself! Have a great day, don't drink too much green beer and remember to leave me some lovin' !

Whooo Loves You?

I am entering this card into the Secret Crafter Saturday challenge which is "Anything Goes" for this week.
I did this card with a cute freebie from Designed to Delight. If you do a challenge using one of their images, they then send you an image for the next challenge. How neat is that! This is my first time doing an image from here, so my card doesn't have the image they sent out to last weeks' players cause I didn't play! (Too bad tho, cause it was the cutest little image of birdies...)If you wait until the beginning of each month, there is a free image to start you out on the progressive challenge. If you don't want to wait, you can purchase the image to start playing right away!

Wild About You!

This is the card I made for my oldest child's birthday tomorrow...Erica Lee will be (ouch) 33 years old... I don't know where the years have gone! She is married and has blessed us with two beautiful grandchildren...
For her birthday she asked for a family membership to the Buffalo Zoo. Hence my wild card! The animal images are from Stampin Up. The sentiment from the $1 spot at Michaels.
So ...how about a peek at my Grand babies...

(Doesn't she make beautiful babies!)

Watercolor Wednesday Challenge at TDS

Good morning everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day today! Yesterday in Buffalo the weather was amazing! I actually left work without a heavy winter coat on! The snow is slowly melting and the grass is starting to get a little green. Spring can't be far behind! And then we will fall into summer... I am so waiting on summer! I am off of work for the summer( no school!)so I can't wait! My card was done with the cute Adirondack chair that just "screams" SUMMER from The Digi Shack. I water colored the paper behind the chair to make it appear like sky and grass...The crisp bright colors of a fresh summer morning! Why don't you hop on over to The Digi Shack, grab a cute image, do some water coloring (anywhere on your creation) and try the challenge.I can't wait to see what you create!
In the meanwhile...join me and daydream a little today and think about that "wait for summer"! Leave me some lovin'!

The Digi Shack Spring Blog Hop!

If you came here from Deanne's blog then you are right on track! Next hop should be to Jana's blog. Have fun! If you started on my blog then you need to go back to the beginning at The Digi Shack cause you don't want to miss a thing! Everyone that participates in at least 5 different challenges will be entered to win ALL of our images!!

My challenge for you today is to do an easel card! I have used a cute new image available for the first time today at TDS! So...Drum Roll Please.....

I found directions on easel cards on Split Coast Stampers by Beate Johns.

Easel Card Instructions

  • One 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock
  • One 4 1/4" square piece of cardstock
  • Scor-Pal™, or other scoring tool. (I used my
  • Scor-Tape™, or other strong adhesive
  • Additional cardstock for card inside and card front
  • Stamps
  • Ink and embellishments

Step 1

Score the 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock at 4 1/4" and 6 3/8".
Hint:
On a Scor-Pal, the 6 3/8" measurement is marked with a dot on the upper guide.

Step 2

Prefold all score lines.
First fold the card in half, then fold the second score line (6 3/8") opposite from the 4 1/4" score line.

Step 3

Place cardstock on table with the 4 1/4" side down.
Add Scor-Tape to the 2 1/8" x 4 1/4" section cardstock that is facing up.

Step 4

Remove the Scor-Tape liner and adhere the 4 1/4" cardstock square to the card base.
Line up the top of the square with the top of the 2 1/8" x 4 1/4" section.
This creates the easel card base

Step 5

Decorate the card front.

Step 6

Decorate the card inside. To make the easel card stand up by itself, add an embellishment or an extra layer (for this sample, it's the punched layer) the inside of your card. This that will keep the card front from closing.

It is best to have that embellishment or layer at least 1/3" into the card from the bottom up.

Easel card opened on view to your right....

So now that you know how to do it, let's see what you create! Leave me a comment and a link to your creation and I will have a free digital image from The Digi Shack for one lucky person! To give everyone a fair chance, I will place all names in a bowl and pick the winner so all of you have an equal chance of winning!

Oldies but Goodies!

These are 2 of the digital images that are up for sale at The Digi Shack. I love them both! I printed out two images of the bird with the worm and reversed the second one so it looks like a tug of war! My monster one was done for a girlfriend who was going thru some rough times and I just wanted to make her laugh. I think it did the trick!
So... check out the images at The Digi Shack and make sure to get ready for the grand Re-Opening of The Digi Shack this Saturday, March 6th!
