It's cookie time!

It's raining here today so I thought it would be a perfect day to make cutout cookies for the 4th of July celebration. I had my two helpers, Isabella and August, had my baked cookies, and the frosting was ready... So... Off we go! August ate two cookies for every one cookie he frosted and Isabella was right behind him! They had too much fun but of course I had the most fun just watching them go to it!
I was able to save one container full of frosted cookies. Now the trick will be if I can safely keep them until Saturday!
It has stopped raining here, the skies are clearing up (or as August says, "it's cheering up") so maybe bike rides are the next activity for today! Have a good evening everyone!

We go Together

Do you remember that line from the song in the musical "Grease"? We go together, ram a ram a ding dong... It's been stuck in my head ever since I started working on the new releases for Modern Sugar Blvd. You'll have to wait until the 9th of July to find out why... But anyway: I started watching the grandbabies today and they are a handful! if I take them both separately it's "easy-peasy" but together is another story! I think they are like oil and water, like fire & rain, like flush & flow...I think you get the picture!

Sketch Saturday at MSB

It's Saturday so that means we have another challenge for you to try! This sketch was compliments of DT member Valerie. Aren't these two little guys just adorable? Shh... don't wake them...You can find their images under the "Twinkle Toes" line at the store (just click on my title and go to the What's New area. Check out all the other "Sugars" to see what they came up with. Have fun creating and don't forget to post your creation back at modern sugar blvd where you have the chance to pick up a couple of free images for being the winner of the random draw! So... what are you waiting for!

Graduation!

My youngest child Tom graduated from High School yesterday and I am feeling a little sad... and so much older! His graduation took place at the Center for Performing Arts on campus of the University of Buffalo. It was a wonderful ceremony (perhaps a wee bit long) with a graduating class of 293. After the ceremony they all left the building exiting to the back of it to the lake where they all did the traditional tossing of the mortorboards into the air. What a beautiful sight to see all those hats flying up in the air! I think that having the graduation exercise at UB was beautiful and it was kind of neat as Tom will be starting college at UB in the fall. Yes... I will have two children attending UB next fall, Tom as a freshman and his brother James as a senior!
Tom, a mother couldn't be more proud of your endeavors... You had a tough time during high school as we moved at the end of your sophomore year to Charlotte NC and you did your junior year at Ardrey Kell High School there. We moved back to Buffalo (after our jobs in Charlotte didn't work out) and all you asked of us was to finish HS back at Sweet Home where you had started school. You had a lot of catching up to do with regents exams, redoing exams as they didn't know what regents were in Charlotte. You had to study hard and take classes that you had already completed in NC to get the NY regents accreditation. But through it all, you persevered. I am so proud of you!
Look out college... Here comes Thomas!

Life Studies...

The card on the right is a new Doodler image along with a background image of the garden. Wouldn't you like to be in that pretty English garden?
The next card has 3 new images in this card from MSB. The first is the TO DO Momma, the second is the blackboard(or in my case green board, lol!). The third are the books on the floor!

The backpack I got from a children's coloring book...

These images will be part of the new release at Modern Sugar Blvd. tomorrow .Check out the other Sugar DT's goodies by clicking on their names on my sidebar. Gotta run, my granddaughter and I are going shopping!

Two to become three!

Isn't this picture striking!? It was taken last October at my nephew Matt's wedding in Las Vegas. What a wonderful wedding he and Amy had!I have been thinking about them a lot lately as my sister Lynda (Matt's Mom) passed away a short 3 months later... I miss her every day and don't know if it will ever get any easier but... now for the good news! Amy and Matt are expecting their first born child ( a daughter, no doubt in my mind...even tho they don't want to know) a day short of the day my sister passed away last January. Their bundle of joy is expected to arrive around January 18, 2010!
A big congratulations to them and we can't wait to meet the newest member of our family!

Victoria Case Fairy

I made this card with a free digital image from Victoria Case of a cute fairy named Tara... Isn't she sweet? I can just see her dancing around in the tall meadow grasses playing with her bee... Wouldn't that be wonderful to see! My card stock is from the $ spot at Target and I used gray card stock from AC Moore. Copics were used to color and a glitter pen used for the wings. The ribbon is from a huge grab bag that I purchased at AC Moore last year...
I wonder if Tara is waiting for her friends in that meadow...

Popsicles anyone?

Isn't this the cutest image? Doesn't it make you want to go eat a popsicle? Does it remind you of your youth? It sure does make me think of the long, hot summers of my youth...
This is one of the newest digital images over at Modern Sugar Blvd. I think you need it... I think you want it... so why not get it! Take a trip down memory Lane or give someone else a memory when you give them a card using this image! Have a good week all!

Thank You!

This card was done with the sketch from Jen over at http://iheart2stamp.com/ . I love the sketch and thought I would give it a whirl. I love this cute little monkey image from Dustin Pike( a freebie way back in April) and knew that I had to use it here! Doesn't he make you feel like you want to swing from some vines??!! He sure is a happy little guy. I thought he was perfect for a thank you card. Of course he would be perfect for just about any kind of card...lol! So let me know what you think and leave me some lovin'!

Challenge day for MSB

Today's challenge over at Modern Sugar is to use any image of your choice, create a card to fit into a business size envelope(number 10) and you have to incorporate a flower on it (anywhere, any kind). We also had a cool sketch made by Brandi(1 of our Sugars) to follow.
Here is my entry... I paper pieced the cupcake liners by printing off the images twice...once on cardstock and then the second time on designer paper. Then it was like putting together a puzzle! Just cut and fit together! I used stickles on the frosting.(If you click on the photo of card, you can see the card up close and personal and see all the yummy stickles!) My flowers are in the border(martha stewart) that I punched out!
Check out all the other Sugars' cards, I think you're gonna love them! Then meander over to Modern Sugar Blvd. and get a cupcake...or a couch, or any digital image your heart desires!!! Also make sure to check out all of the other Sugars sweet cards! Have a great weekend!

Another entry for Hanna Stamps!

Well I sat all morning at the hospital while my husband had some exploratory surgery on his knee...no good news, he needs a knee replacement! But... while I was there I got to color lots of my images that I had stamped or downloaded digitally. So... I got this one finished... another Riley fav of mine, so I thought I would enter it into their July DT contest that is going on. You still have 1 more day as the deadline is June 20th. So hurry over to their site on Splitcoaststampers and give it a try!

Hanna Stamps Guest DT call for July

I did this card for a DT call for Hanna Stamps. I love Hanna Stamps and had a hard time figuring out which Riley stamp to use. I finally settled on this one cause my summer vacation starts tomorrow! I sure wish he could be me lounging there... instead I will be very busy all summer long with my grandchildren. But I will so enjoy the time with them and as that old saying goes, "children are only children for a short time" and I want to spend as much time as I can with them while they are little! If you are interested in the details of this contest; click on my heading and it will send you right to Splitcoaststampers and Hanna Stamps!

My GraficO Freebie!

I uploaded this cute little bird from mygrafico. Isn't she a sweet little one? I printed her out 3 times using different sizes (so cool what you can do with a digital image) and then played around until I likes all the colors and papers! You can find yours by clicking on my title above to go to Mygrafico. The cardstock is Paper co. and the DP is from my stash... sorry I don't remember the Co. I used copics to color and added a couple little embellies from Joanne's $1 spot. I think this will make a perfect card for lots of different occasions! What do you think?

Life's Simple Pleasures with Modern Sugar Blvd.

This is one of many new images that are popping up over at MSB. Isn't this the sweetest image? It makes me want to go right outside and start digging in my garden! The design team was challenged by Crystal (a designer here at MSB.) to use this beautiful new image and to make a #10 size card business card (7 1/2 x 9 1/4 and score at 3 5/8).
Go on over and check out Modern Sugar to see what great images they have for sale.
And don't forget to go over to MSB for your list of bingo words and get ready to play some BINGO tomorrow night for a chance to win all 8 of the new releases! What a sweet deal!

Thank You Note

Isn't this the cutest image? It was a freebie digital image from one of the many sites I peruse. I used her to make thank you cards for all my students...you know all those end of the year goodies that we all get? The inside of the card reads:
YOU MAKE ME SMILE
ALL OVER MY FACE!
I just love that saying! I hope you all love seeing how I colored her! Have a great rest of your week!

Creative Keepsakes Convention

Hi everyone! So...last month I went to a great scrapbook convention and met my friend Nicole,(and some of her friends...my new friends! lol!). We took some classes and went to the great vendor fair! What a fun day we had. Anyway, the last class we took was sponsored by Quick Quotes. We made this really cute vacation book (see my picture!). Well... to make a short story out of all of this, I WON this huge door prize! It was a shopping bag full of their products! Like about $100.00 worth of stuff! Can you say LUCKY?! I never win at these things so I was literally blown away! All of the girls I was with told me they were going to jump me on the subway home for the goodies! But, they didn't so they can still be my friends! LOL! We had a super day and had a lot of fun.
I did want to let you know about this really cool glitter ink mist I bought. It is made by tattered angels and is super cool! You spray it on your cardstock, chipboard or whatever (even glass and metal) and it leaves beautiful color with shimmery highlights!

Sugar Saturday Challenge @ MSB

Hi Sugars! It's time to test your sugar levels again! This week's challenge is brought to you by DT member Mary. Create a wedding card using any MSB Image...but there are some rules... you have to include:

1. Something old
2. Something new (perhaps a new MSB image?)
3. Something Borrowed
4. Something Blue
I used an image from MSB and changed out her head from another image (Cocoa Girl). So... that was my something borrowed! It's so cool that you can play with your digital images like this!!!Something old and new were my delicious design papers and the image of the bride.
Something blue is the color I placed on the bodice of her dress and of course; the cuttlebugged paper behind this beautiful bride!
So...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR! Go on over to Modern Sugar Blvd. and get creative! Come on...You know you want to play!
Have a Super Sugar Day!
